In February 2015, A Family in Bloom Adoption was approved by the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry to begin adoption work in Ethiopia. Our program would involve direct work with one well-established children’s home located in Addis Ababa, placing primarily young orphaned children.
A Family in Bloom Adoption participated in January 2016 in a joint adoption forum for child placement agencies working in Ethiopia with the US State Department where different issues and trends that have emerged recently were discussed. In the last year, changes in the Ethiopian government’s approach to international adoption and the timelines involved in many cases have been creating stalemates for many US adoption agencies.
Our own agency has not been able to receive the final permit from an adjunct agency in Ethiopia to begin adoptive placements from this country. We are optimistic that eventually this will change. Any changes in status for adoption work in Ethiopia by A Family in Bloom Adoption will be noted on this webpage in the future.
More information will be posted when it becomes available or one can contact our agency directly at (303) 516-9827.
